Billy and Hells have a wonderful way of noticing – noticing what others might overlook, or minimize. Their models brim with their own personalities – and Billy und Hells does a wonderful job of noticing that spark of life, and capturing it for us to see and enjoy ourselves.
Each image feels frozen in time – models stare soulfully into the camera for an eternity, timeless – bringing to mind the monumental qualities of Irving Penn, or the sexual irreverence of Helmut Newton. Their rich, muted color palettes delight the senses in a way that few modern photographers rarely succeed at today – marking each image clearly as a Billy und Hells photograph.
Billy und Hells are two photographers - Anke Linz and Andreas Oettinger – the two met, and found a shared interest in photography, and in life. Together, they live in Berlin.
